Aqualung Air DryAqualung Air Dry (SRP: £17.95)

Mark: One of the better snorkels on test, it’s comfortable and the twin purge clears really easily.
Dave: This gives a nice dry breathe and clears really easily – it’s a good buy at that price.
John: I like it, it’s very comfortable and the purge works well.
Andrea: I prefer a snorkel with a flexible mid-section, but even so this is a pretty good snorkel.
Richard: It clears easily and sits comfortably in your mouth, it’s not a bad price, either.
Sharon: Even though it isn’t flexible, it’s comfortable enough and clears easily.

Beaver OasisBeaver Oasis (SRP: £17.95)

Mark: This one has an excellent clip system, it’s comfortable and works well.
Dave: Cleared easily enough and was easy to use, nice enough snorkel.
John: Pretty good, nice all-round snorkel, it cleared easily and gave a dry breath.
Andrea: Quite a nice snorkel, easy to clear and comfy to use.
Richard: An everyday average snorkel, does what it’s supposed to do.
Sharon: Not the comfiest here for me, but was okay over all.

IST SN60IST SN60 (SRP: £16.95)

Mark: This is a reasonable snorkel for the price, though others perform better. Solid build quality, though.
Dave: A good enough, mid-range snorkel, not as easy as some to clear, but okay none the less.
John: It seemed to flood easily and gave a bit of a wet breathe, not one of the better ones.
Andrea: This was a decent snorkel, sat firmly in the middle of the pack.
Richard: I think this one is comfortable and easy enough to clear, a nice mid-range snorkel.
Sharon: Comfy enough, but not the best performer here.

Oceanic UltradryOceanic Ultra Dry (SRP: £18.50) CHOICE

Mark: This is an awesome snorkel for the price. It is robust, looks good and performs brilliantly.
Dave: Drier than the Sahara – if I was buying a snorkel, it would be this one.
John: Brilliant, I want one. I’d spend my wife’s money and buy one.
Andrea: You can’t get water in it even if you try, I really like it.
Richard: I like this one a lot, this is the one I’d buy.
Sharon: It’s comfortable, it’s got a good clip and works very well.

OceanmasterOceanmaster (SRP: £26.94)

Mark: This has got a comfortable mouthpiece and the purge works really well, but it is a bit pricey for a snorkel.
Dave: How much? For a snorkel? It works okay, but it’s a bit chunky, not for me.
John: It’s an okay performer, but too pricey for me.
Andrea: I don’t like this one, it’s too bulky and you need quite a lot of force to clear it.
Richard: I like this one, it works well and it’s comfortable.
Sharon: It’s not the best performer, but it’s okay and it is pricey.

Poseidon GolfPoseidon Golf (SRP: £17.95)

Mark: This is a basic snorkel. It works reasonably well, but it does take a fair bit of effort to vent the last remnants of water.
Dave: I couldn’t get the last bit of water out very easily, but it’s comfortable enough.
John: Once you get water in it, it does not clear as easily as it should.
Andrea: I don’t like this one, it’s a wet breathe and harder than most to clear.
Richard: I like the clip on it – even a child could do it.
Sharon: It’s not that comfy, but not too bad either, and it’s tricky to clear.

Ralf TechRalf Tech (SRP: £17.99)

Mark: Comfortable and easy to clear, looks quite good as well in techie silver.
Dave: This is a reasonably priced, efficient snorkel that does the job, it’s okay.
John: A fairly average snorkel, not bad and it’s a dry enough breathe.
Andrea: I don’t think it’s the easiest to clear, but it’s okay.
Richard: It feels a bit heavy to me, but it’s a good fit in your mouth and easy enough to clear.
Sharon: This one cleared easily enough and looks quite flash, it’s a good value, mid-priced snorkel.

Scubapro NexusScubapro Nexus (SRP: £22.95)

Mark: This is a solid, durable snorkel that will stash in your BCD pocket, but actually works well when you need to use it.
Dave: Very similar to the Tusa! It’s crushproof and folds up so that it fits in your pocket, and it’s a pretty good breathe as well.
John: It’s a well-made snorkel that’s easy to clear and breathes well. Not a bad snorkel at all.
Andrea: This is like the Tusa one, I like both of these. It breathes quite well and is quite easy to clear, it’s got a comfy mouthpiece too.
Richard: This is one of the best ones here, it breathed well, cleared easily and you can fold it up.
Sharon: I like this one, it’s comfortable in your mouth, cleared easily and gave a dry breathe.

Seac Sub TriplexSeac Triplex (SRP: £19.99)

Mark: I don’t like the top bit, but it’s comfortable enough and an easy clear. The clip is a good one.
Dave: I think this is an average all-round snorkel, it’s okay.
John: I found it breathed a bit wet, but it’s a robust, well-made snorkel.
Andrea: It’s a nice, comfy snorkel that works well, not bad.
Richard: It’s flexible, it clears easily and works well.
Sharon: Tougher than some in the test to clear, but it’s not as bad as some of them.

Sherwood SabreSherwood Sabre (SRP: £19.95)

Mark: The snorkel itself if a fairly middle-of-the-road unit, but the clip lets it down.
Dave: The clip does not really work and it is a wetter breathe than it should be.
John: The side adjuster really did not work, which meant it never fitted properly, and it never quite cleared when I purged it.
Andrea: No, not the one for me, it’s okay but there is better.
Richard: I had some problem clearing it, it was always a bit of a wet breathe, not my favourite.
Sharon: Comfy enough in your mouth, but I had difficulty adjusting the clip up and down.

Tigullio ZipTigullio Zip (SRP: £23.95)

Mark: A collapsible snorkel – it’s a novel idea, but it does not work so well in practice.
Dave: It fits in your BCD pocket and would be okay for floating face down in the water, but when moving it kept coming off the mask strap.
John: It’s got a poor clip on the side which kept coming off, otherwise an average performer.
Andrea: I like the way it collapses but the clip is rubbish, I’d lose it.
Richard: It’s hard to clear, although it’s a good idea – it just doesn’t quite work.
Sharon: No, not the one for me.

Tusa SP170Tusa SP170 (SRP: £23.50)

Mark: Like the Scubapro snorkel, which is virtually identical, this unit works well, but also folds up to go into your BCD pocket.
Dave:
It’s well made and I know that if you did break it, you can buy its constituent parts for repair. Pricier than some, but for the spares approach alone, it is worth it.
John: Good clip, easy breathe and foldable as well, it’s not the cheapest but it’s probably worth it.
Andrea: This is a good one – it breathed well and cleared easily. I like the way it’s crushproof. It’s got the comfiest mouthpiece as well.
Richard: It’s just like the Scubapro one, which I also liked. It’s a good snorkel which does everything well.
Sharon: Very comfortable mouthpiece, an easy breathe and very easy to clear. It’s got a good clip system as well.
