The Kurlands was owned by Belgian Ocean shipping company at the time of her loss. She sank after a collision with the Deventia on 13 December 1917, and today lies in 33m. She is 283ft long by 36ft wide and weighs 2,000 tons. The bows and stern are intact, and the midships holds are still full with supplies for the armed forces in France. Wagon wheels, Belgian periscope rifles, bricks, and horse shoes seem to be the main cargo. Vis averages four metres but can be up to eight metres.
