Dealing with non-diving WAGS

Posted: Tue Jul 08, 2008 6:48pm

Predictably, the (probably) was well placed. And just as predictably, we didn't make it to Abu Nuhas after all, so that's the last time I'll write, predicting what will happen tomorrow, and end up with egg on my face.
However, today we ploughed two hours north to the wreck of the Rosalie Moller - one of the Red Sea's big 'uns. After three days of reef diving (albeit it good reef diving) it was a welcome relief. The wreck is immense, sunk two days after the Thistlegorm, upright and basically intact. They were easily the best two dives so far.
Most divers here are holidaying with non-diving wives or girlfriends, so we were discussing the best way to try and keep them happy while you're diving. One guy asked me to recommend a good liveaboard, as his wife had already declared this was the last time she was coming on a holiday where he planned to dive!
Another bloke had left his wife with their young child at 8am and told her he would be back after lunch. When we rolled up back at the dive centre at 5pm he feared a frosty reception from his other half. Damage done, we decided the best course of action was to sink a couple Sakara Golds over the next hour. He didn't come diving the next day...
